Social work focuses on understanding and striving to improve the lives of people. Therefore, studying social work at a university that aims to empower the students will allow me to increase my knowledge on social work and how I can assist people in society. With a desire to help people cope and improve their quality of life, I believe studying social work at the university will give me the necessary skills to offer services to many people and make a positive impact in society. The social work skills acquired can be transferable to other sectors of the economy. The masters degree will assist in developing communication skills, empathy, problem-solving skills, time management, and teamwork abilities. These are all valuable to a social worker and attractive to employers in other sectors of the economy. Studying social work makes one a perfect fit for different jobs that require the employee to adapt to different settings. Being an all-rounded employee who can manage different roles and tasks within challenging environments is a great ability I would like to acquire.

The issues facing children at home and fighting to improve the lives of the children either in juvenile or state care is another role of the child welfare social worker.Children in the juvenile system need assistance to reform and grow into adulthood without continuing with the issues that brought them to the juvenile system. Helping these children overcome the problem they are facing is suitable for the child and society. Reducing the number of offending children and potential criminals improves society. Juvenile cases that do not receive assistance early have been shown to come into adulthood and continue with the criminal cases that they were involved with when young. Therefore, pushing for reforms to the juvenile system will assist in reducing children offender cases.
Child abuse cases can be dealt with at home by supporting the parents and offering guidance to the parents. Children from abusive homes tend to be perpetrators or receivers of abuse in adulthood. We need to ensure that we can stop this vicious cycle of abuse…
